Loss of a Student Nurse
Carroll Community College Nursing Program lost one of its family members yesterday. A 24-year-old second-year student, Claire, was killed in a car accident on her way home from a clinical make-up day. She was flown to Shock Trauma but unfortunately did not overcome her injuries. I didn't know Claire, although I know she was friends with a lot of people I know. However, the loss of a young, talented individual effects the entire world in ways we will never know. I am deeply saddened and feel incredible empathy for her and her family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Nerves
Holy crap clinicals start in one week. I'm already having anxiety attacks! I keep going back and forth between being totally excited and completely and utterly terrified. I've never done an ounce of patient care before, so its really scary! At the same time, I'm excited to put what I've learned into action, and to learn even more as I go along! I hear the Nursing Home clinicals are really the best because you get the same patient throughout, usually, and you develop a really good relationship with them. Plus, most of them are very lonely and so grateful for the opportunity to talk to someone new. I'll be so proud of myself, but until then....man. I wish there was a good way to calm my nerves!!
Updates: Porsche is doing much better. The vet took her off all the medications (thank god) and she is now eating and drinking regularly (or close to regularly). She has stopped the drooling and nystagmus, so hopefully that means the motion sickness is better and now she just needs her equilibrium to equal back out. My poor baby girl, I hate seeing her sick!!
Zach is still incredibly sick with what I think is the flu. Hes got a horrible headache, body aches, fever and chills, and his skin just hurts at the slightest touch. :o( I'm trying to spend as much time as possible with him because I know how much it sucks to be sick. I'm just hoping I don't get it!!!!
Still haven't called the ENT about my tonsil....I can't tell but it looks like it MIGHT be a smidgen smaller today! I'm stuck between calling and just getting it looked at for peace of mind, and spending money for basically nothing. *sigh* Stupid tonsil.

My Very First Blog!
Wow...I'm blogging. So thanks to reading Ginny's blog, I decided maybe this would be therapeutic. A little down right now thanks to the recent string of Caps losses, yucky weather, and information overload in nursing school. Writing used to be good for me, maybe it will be now, too!
Lots of stuff going on. Trying to keep up with studying, performing as maid of honor in my best friend's wedding next weekend, trying to find a local part-time job and still pay bills, still adjusting to living back home with my parents and not being with Zach in our cozy little apartment...
I'm not really sure what to write about right now. Not really compelled to write about anything in particular at the moment. Give me time, I'm sure I'll find something to discuss. ;o)
